More Willie Dixon over the jump.

This is an open thread. There are several hosts, each host being responsible for picking a “theme of the day” and starting the discussion. However, there is no hard and fast rule about staying on topic, especially if you have a personal story burning a hole in your pocket trying to escape.
Pictures and videos are welcome in the comments.  If photos are used, please be sure you own the copyright. We would rather see your personal photos anyway, rather than random stuff copied from the internet.  Our only request is that if you use pictures or videos, take pity on those who don’t have broadband, and don’t post more than two or three in a single comment.

  1. Having a birthday today. Damn Google decided I needed a personal celebration, so they posted an animated birthday Google Doodle just for me. At least I hope it only opens in my browser…I hate to think it is all over the internet.

I like Willie Dixon. Doing anti-war songs blues style is nice.

We have severe clear here, but with patch dense fog. That will be mostly in the valleys along rivers and creeks where the humidity is higher. There is a reason these hills got the nickname “Smokey Mountains.” Wispy tendrils of fog/cloud form in shady ridges and ravines. Temp is 64ºF. Going to warm up to around 80º this afternoon. That means summer thundershowers, probably scattered. I look forward to this broken foot healing so I can get out and take pictures. Flowers are blooming, and the Rhododendron gardens on top of 6,285′ Roan Mountain will be in bloom. Amazing to walk through a giant “flower bed” where the gigantic flowers grow on bushes as high as the roof of a house. Like walking though shaded tunnels in a flowering jungle. The bushes are no longer just bushes, but massive trees with many tangled trunks as big as my arm.

  2. Google knows its your b-day, Chuck! LOL! Be assured, I can also see that charming little vid.

Bake yourself a pie. Folks, this man made an apple pie for my bday last year, and it was The Best Birthday Pie Ever!!!

Here in south central WI, we have clear sky, currently 54, with expected high 76.
