Jack Smith and Jan 6

by Irene Fowler

Jack Smith could eat no crud or crow
His lawyerly act would only wax, flex, and grow
As exhibits, subpoenas and deps; fly to and fro
Under his keen prosecutorial lens and burning glow.

**

Floating like a butterfly, stinging like a bee
Of Special Counsel’s, a pugilisic Mohammed Ali
Weighing heavy, kingly matters, to be or not to be
Affecting Trumpian J-6, dark, dangerous, demented skies and seas.

**

Swimming with blood-curdling sharks, in fetid waters and cesspools
Nary a megahit ‘007’ action movie, rated thrilling or supercool
Albeit, a noble, herculean task for brave-lion-hearts
To rebuild and fortify, disintegrating rule-of-law walls and ramparts.

**

The armada of anarchists, nihilists and devotees of conspiracies
Mindless peons, victims of fear and deception, sailing on a fiery sea of lies
To overthrow the world’s most powerful, lodestar-democracy
Proud Boys, 3 Percenters, Oath Keepers; all, useful idiots for cruel fascism and supremacy.

**

Dark money groups, corrupt media and rogue powers that be
In on the grand con of a stolen election, fiendishly evincing malice and glee
Regardless of a failed insurrection to install a loser; punk-psycho-president
Still the potent ‘terminate the constitution’ bubonic plague, is yet existent.

**

Jack Smith: Cometh the moment, cometh the man
Heeding the call to thwart autocracy’s masterminds and wily plans
Thrust into croc swamps, thorny thickets, and choking noxious weeds
A man for all seasons, fearless champion of democracy’s flower, fruit, and seed.
