The current political situation is one sorting out whether Trump can even hold office with so many conflicts of interest, but is also a useful one in recalibrating what counts as representation in a democracy (or even a constitutional republic, for you RWNJs). No democratic republics on this soil, as long as the Constitution loses speech rights and voting rights. Apparently Trump prefers incivility rights and has rewarded them with his tacit support of ethno-majority racism.
Unfortunately there is a history of anti-Americanism and SOG’s (stupid orange gasbag) invoking of more excuses to create a state of emergency will only have more disastrous consequences. Terror attacks on international Trumpian business interests will make United Fruit more like Bhopal.
More fascinating will be a US invasion /attack on North Korea providing an additional chapter to the Strategy of Tension narrative, much like a potential Latin America “police action” popular with GOP regimes… good times, Panama, Grenada … The old memes make the best memes. The bad bet is inciting the ‘baggers as an organizing concept for fomenting sedition that might even get the US to its Third Revolution but give us an actual Quatri Imperii.
We’re right at the ledge, hectored in 140 characters by Lingua Quatri Imperii , only fortunate that we are at the rhetorical phase of rolling back America to SOG’s period of Great America, the post-war 1950’s. Don’t worry, America, SOG only wants us to play with his inner child.
“I have often thought that if a rational Fascist dictatorship were to exist, then it would choose the American system.” Noam Chomsky
The strategy of tension (Italian: strategia della tensione) is a theory that Western governments during the Cold War used tactics that aimed to divide, manipulate, and control public opinion using fear, propaganda, disinformation, psychological warfare, agents provocateurs, and false flag terrorist actions in order to achieve their strategic aims.
