The Eighth Post in the “Oh My Achin’ Head” Series: Michele Bachmann Talks about Gay Bullies and Democrats Intimidating Billionaires during Radio Interview at CPAC

MicheleBachmannCrazyBY ELAINE MAGLIARO

On Tuesday, Charles Pierce wrote about watching “The Girl with Faraway Eyes” working “radio row” at the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on The Politics Blog at Esquire. Pierce said he hadn’t realized that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MINN) “was expanding the frontiers of the crazee while she was there.” I guess Pierce came to that conclusion after reading a story about Bachmann that was written by David Edwards at Raw Story . Edwards said that during her interview with conservative radio host Lars Larson at CPAC, Bachmann “suggested that God had sent billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch to help the Republican Party.”

“I just thank God that there’s a billionaire or two on our side,” Bachman said “All the billionaires seem to be on the radical left, so I’m glad that we have a couple on ours.”

Edwards added that Bachmann “asserted that Democrats were part of ‘an intimidation movement’ to stop billionaires from supporting conservative causes.”

Prison Populations and Social Priorities

scales_of_justice1by GENE HOWINGTON

A recent story by Kathleen Miles at Huffington Post about Federal prison populations is another in a long line of stark illustrations of what is wrong with not just our criminal justice system in the United States, but of what is wrong with our government as a whole. Nominally the story is pretty straight forward: an “infographic” breakdown of Federal prison population by type of offense.  To anyone following such social and legal stories, it comes as no surprise that the failed “War on Drugs” accounts for a substantial number of prisoners.  What is more interesting is the story between the lines.  It is a tale of sound and fury, told by a devil living in details, of class warfare, corruption, and the rise of fascism and fall of freedom.  Let’s look at those numbers and what they reveal . . .

Site Update: Suggestions

At the suggestion(s) of our extended blog family a.k.a. the readers and commentators here at FFS the following changes have been made to the site:

Site Archive by Month – A pull down widget.  Also, for those who do not know, if you click on a specific author’s name on the list at the top of the sidebar?  You will get an archive of all of their posts.

Category Cloud – I’ll start encouraging the use of categories (especially for myself!) to make this a more useful widget.

Tag Cloud – Not only did you want it, but you got it so much that you are indeed “it”.

Thanks for helping to make FFS a truly community driven blog!

Query: How useful do you think the “Recent Posts” widget is considering your new options to look up older columns?  If it is of limited utility, I’m considering removing or resizing that widget to save “real estate”.  Let me know what you think in the comments below . . .

The Seventh Post in the “Oh My Achin’ Head” Series: Alaska State Senator Claims That Birth Control Is So Cheap That Citizens Shouldn’t Be Required to Pay for Other People’s “Recreation”

FredDysonAlaskaBY ELAINE MAGLIARO

Fred Dyson is a Republican State Senator from Alaska. Dyson feels that access to affordable contraception isn’t a problem in his state. During a floor speech this past Wednesday, Dyson claimed that he had “researched the issue after a colleague suggested the number of abortions could be reduced by improving access to contraception.” Dyson said that condoms cost about a dollar apiece—and added that a woman could purchase a month’s supply of birth control pills for the “price of four or five lattes…” Dyson claims that birth control is not only affordable—but also easily accessible for women in his state—“given that they can get it delivered via Alaska Airlines’ express delivery program.”

(Just a thought: I wonder what Alaska Airlines would charge for delivery of contraceptives?????)

The Associated Press reported that the “issue of the state [Alaska] providing expanded family planning services” arose during discussion about a bill “that would further define when the state would pay for abortions under Medicaid.” Dyson said, “I don’t think there’s an overwhelming or compelling reason for the state or the people — i.e. other people’s money — to be required to finance other people’s recreation. That’s my own personal view.” I should note that Dyson calls having sex without the goal of procreating “recreation.”

Laser Klan: A KKK Science Fiction and Fact Post

Ku_Klux_Klan_Virgina - CopyBY ELAINE MAGLIARO

Last week, Stephen Colbert aired a segment on his Comedy Central show about the Ku Klux Klan titled Laser Klan. Colbert got the idea for the segment from a 2013 news story about a General Electric Co. industrial mechanic from Saratoga County (NY) and a computer software expert from Columbia County (NY) who plotted to design “a radiation weapon that could fit in a small van and be used to silently kill humans.” (Note: Crawford is reportedly a member of a tea party group called Americans Demanding Liberty and Freedom and a member of United Northern & Southern Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.)  An FBI task force uncovered the plot and charged the two men, Glendon Scott Crawford and Eric J. Feight, “with conspiring to sell the weapon to Jewish groups or a southern branch of the Ku Klux Klan.”

According to the Times Union, a federal complaint said that their “vehicle-mounted radiation gear was intended to be remotely controlled and capable of aiming a high-energy lethal beam of radioactivity at human targets.” Targets of the device were supposed to die mysteriously “from radiation poisoning within days.” Officials said that Crawford and Feight “never actually obtained a radiation source and the device was not fully constructed.”

On The Case With Paula Zahn: Disappointed but not shocked

I was interviewed for tonight’s new episode of On The Case. The episode is called Evidence of Deception. I must say, I am disappointed by the dishonesty and disingenuousness shown, but not surprised. There were several factual errors that were probably not errors, but production decisions. The “District Attorney” shown was Richard Bowen, who was not the DA at the time of the trial, but an assistant DA. The District Attorney was a guy named John Young, who has since been mercifully voted out. They left out a number of important points, which I will address in a future piece. They also left out Dr. Joe Edd Morris completely, even though he was instrumental in setting my client up to be victimized by a specialist in hypnosis named Steve Rhodes. Rhodes is billed as “the human lie detector.” One hardly knows how to respond to a guy who professes he can always tell when someone is lying. More on that when I am less angry and more rested.

The Sixth Post in the “Oh My Achin Head” Series: NYC Pastor Claims White Homosexual Demons Are Stealing Black Men from Black Women

Church - CopyBY ELAINE MAGLIARO

James David Manning is the pastor of ATLAH World Church, which is located at Lenox and 123rd in Harlem. Earlier this week, he posted a video to Youtube labeled “White Homosexual Takes Black Woman’s Man.” In the video, Manning talks about the “catastrophic crisis of the absence of males in the home” in the African-American community. He also talks of how black women are having “a hard time finding black men to marry.”

According to Manning, there are two reasons why black women are having trouble finding husbands: the high rate of incarceration of black men…and President Obama who has released “white homo demons” who are stealing their potential mates. In his video, Manning refers to our president as “perverted”—and calls him a “son of Satan.”  Manning claims that “Obama has released these demons. Particularly upon the black males.” The pastor adds, “This homosexual demon hoping to enforce as many black males to subscribe to ideas that homosexual perverted LGBT as possible [sic]. So we have the outing of people like Jason Collins, who is an alleged basketball player, and Michael Sam, a football player. Two blacks that have come out of the closet and have received national acclaim from Obama, from Michelle ‘the fistbumper’ Obama, from Oprah Winfrey, from all black people encouraging more black men to come out of the closet.”
