Freudian slips (parapraxis) happen on this Carnival Cruz as Ted presents himself as the saviour from a treasonous POTUS by his gun-frying Canadian Baconness. For the GOP campaign, Cruz embodies the Southern Strategy even as his birth in southern Alberta is an entire act of self-forgetting or denial as false consciousness.

The synonomy of “Muslim” and “Terrorist” in RW media is a dangerous parapraxis in a country where non-Muslim domestic terrorists are in the majority. Trump’s citing a myth about Pershing shows how thin GOP tissues are.

Ted’s theocratic vision for America is lodged in the American Taliban’s Dominionist premise, so why shouldn’t the projection of PBO as Antichrist for many on the Right be how they propose to Make America Grape Again and how the GOP nominee could be the actual One

 

In a November 2014 Senate speech, Cruz accused the president of being “openly desirous to destroy the Constitution and this Republic.”

In the same speech, Cruz invoked the speeches of the ancient Roman senator Cicero against Catiline to denounce Obama’s planned executive actions on immigration reform.

Classics professor Jesse Weiner, writing in The Atlantic, said that Cruz’s analogy was “deeply disquieting” because “in casting Obama in the role of Catiline, Cruz unsubtly suggests that the sitting president was not lawfully elected and is the perpetrator of a violent insurrection to overthrow the government…In effect, he accuses the president of high treason.

Regardless of one’s views on immigration reform and the Obama administration at large, this is dangerous rhetoric.

Nevermind the interlocking multi-national ownership of all car companies or that even now cars are assembled in places quite different from the site of their parts’ origins.

While Dominionists achieving power this would be a disaster for the United States, it also would most probably mark the end of humanity. The end game for these believers is “Resurrection” and the return of Jesus leading his armies to Armageddon marking the end of the world. The Signorelli parapraxis represents the first and best known example of a parapraxis and its analysis in Freud‘s The Psychopathology of Everyday Life. The parapraxis centers on a word finding problem and the production of substitutes. Freud couldn’t recall the name (Signorelli) of the painter of the Orvieto frescos and produced as substitutes the names of two painters Botticelli and Boltraffio. Freud’s analysis shows what associative processes had linked Signorelli to Botticelli and Boltraffio. The analysis has been criticised by linguists and others…

Freud denies the relevance of the content of the frescos. Nevertheless, psychoanalysts have pursued their investigations particularly into this direction, finding however no new explanation of the parapraxis. Jacques Lacan suggested that the parapraxis may be an act of self-forgetting…

Freud in his analysis did not use the fact that he remembered very well a picture of the painter in the lower left corner of one of the frescos. The picture, sort of a signature, was thus a third substitute to the forgotten name Signorelli.

The “signature” can be interpreted as a reference to the Latin verb signare and this word, instead of Freud’s signore, then leads to a simple analysis of the Signorelli parapraxis (Engels, 2006, p. 66-69).

Antichrist is a Christian term based on interpretation of passages in the New Testament, in which the term “antichrist” occurs five times in 1 John and 2 John (Greek: ἀντίχριστος, antichristos), once in plural form and four times in the singular.

In some Christian eschatologies Jesus, the Christ or Christian Messiah, will appear in his Second Coming to Earth to face the Antichrist, who will be the greatest false messiah in Christianity. Just as Christ is the savior and the ideal model for humanity, his opponent will be a single figure of concentrated evil, according to Bernard McGinn.

In Islamic eschatology, Masih ad-Dajjal is an anti-messiah figure (similar to the Christian concept of Antichrist), who will appear to deceive humanity before the second coming of “Isa”, as Jesus is known by Arabic-speaking Muslims.

In some schools of non-legalistic medieval Jewish eschatology, a comparable (parodic) anti-Messiah figure, son of a virgin, is called Armilus, “a king who will arise at the end of time against the Messiah, and will be conquered by him after having brought much distress upon Israel.” The concept of an antichrist is absent in traditional Judaism; however, in the medieval diaspora, his inevitable destruction is narrated as the symbol of ultimate victory of good over evil in the Messianic age.
