TrusTED as Antichrist…or does it Anti-Matter

detail…SIGNORELLI, Luca; Sermon and Deeds of the Antichrist, Fresco Chapel of San Brizio, Duomo, Orvieto 1499-1502 And in the midst of all the chaos we see the Antichrist, pausing in the middle of a sermon to hear what his demonic advisor instructs him to say next…

United States President Barack Obama has been accused of being the Antichrist during his Presidency, with one opinion poll from 2013 showing 13% of Americans believing it.

Much like the GOP base of middle-class conservative white privilege believing PBO to be a secret Muslim, false consciousness is an act of parapraxis. In language acts it can represent a type of crypto-praxis revealed in fascist rhetoric. Like its cousin, La Falange Cubana there are hopes for varieties of End Times authoritarianism to realize textual prophecy.

Freudian slips (parapraxis) happen on this Carnival Cruz as Ted presents himself as the saviour from a treasonous POTUS by his gun-frying Canadian Baconness. For the GOP campaign, Cruz embodies the Southern Strategy even as his birth in southern Alberta is an entire act of self-forgetting or denial as false consciousness.

The synonomy of “Muslim” and “Terrorist” in RW media is a dangerous parapraxis in a country where non-Muslim domestic terrorists are in the majority. Trump’s citing a myth about Pershing shows how thin GOP tissues are.

Ted’s theocratic vision for America is lodged in the American Taliban’s Dominionist premise, so why shouldn’t the projection of PBO as Antichrist for many on the Right be how they propose to Make America Grape Again and how the GOP nominee could be the actual One

Carnival Cruz

In a November 2014 Senate speech, Cruz accused the president of being “openly desirous to destroy the Constitution and this Republic.”

In the same speech, Cruz invoked the speeches of the ancient Roman senator Cicero against Catiline to denounce Obama’s planned executive actions on immigration reform.

Classics professor Jesse Weiner, writing in The Atlantic, said that Cruz’s analogy was “deeply disquieting” because “in casting Obama in the role of Catiline, Cruz unsubtly suggests that the sitting president was not lawfully elected and is the perpetrator of a violent insurrection to overthrow the government…In effect, he accuses the president of high treason.

Regardless of one’s views on immigration reform and the Obama administration at large, this is dangerous rhetoric.

And yet the implications for the use of pig meat here go beyond foodstuffs…

Freud’s admiration for the artist marks an identification that makes his parapraxis an act of selfforgetting (Signorelli and Sigmund share the same first syllable).” at the level of the individual subject, this seems innocent but at a national level in the post-9/11 acts of self forgetting are mass acts of false consciousness. “Rome is the mob”(Gladiator).

False consciousness is theoretically linked with the concepts of the dominant ideology and cultural hegemony, and to a lesser extent with cognitive dissonance…The concept refers to the systematic misrepresentation of dominant social relations in the consciousness of subordinate classes.

False consciousness about POC is about that neocolonial Other, whether it’s African Americans saying early on that PBO was “not Black enough” or whether Vincent Chin lost his life because all Asians look alike and Chinese-Americans should be beat to death because Detroit off-shoring US car production to Japan created White unemployment. Nevermind the interlocking multi-national ownership of all car companies or that even now cars are assembled in places quite different from the site of their parts’ origins.

While Dominionists achieving power this would be a disaster for the United States, it also would most probably mark the end of humanity. The end game for these believers is “Resurrection” and the return of Jesus leading his armies to Armageddon marking the end of the world. In power, with nuclear armaments and a pretend Jesus to lead them, their ascendancy could well mark the end of of humanity.…

Anyone who has watched Cruz on the stump knows that he often references the important role that his father, traveling evangelist Rafael Cruz, has played in his life. During a 2012 sermon at New Beginnings Church in Bedford, Texas, Rafael Cruz described his son’s political campaign as a direct fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

The elder Cruz told the congregation that God would anoint Christian “kings” to preside over an “end-time transfer of wealth” from the wicked to the righteous. After this sermon, Larry Huch, the pastor of New Beginnings, claimed Cruz’s recent election to the U.S. Senate was a sign that he was one of these kings.

Dominionist objectives

According to his father and Huch, Ted Cruz is anointed by God to help Christians in their effort to “go to the marketplace and occupy the land … and take dominion” over it. This “end-time transfer of wealth” will relieve Christians of all financial woes, allowing true believers to ascend to a position of political and cultural power in which they can build a Christian civilization. When this Christian nation is in place (or back in place), Jesus will return.

Online information search could even have its own versions of parapraxis, think how stupid those voice response phone messages are when they aren’t trained like Siri …”representative….representative…representative…”

The Signorelli parapraxis represents the first and best known example of a parapraxis and its analysis in Freud‘s The Psychopathology of Everyday Life. The parapraxis centers on a word finding problem and the production of substitutes. Freud couldn’t recall the name (Signorelli) of the painter of the Orvieto frescos and produced as substitutes the names of two painters Botticelli and Boltraffio. Freud’s analysis shows what associative processes had linked Signorelli to Botticelli and Boltraffio. The analysis has been criticised by linguists and others…

Freud denies the relevance of the content of the frescos. Nevertheless, psychoanalysts have pursued their investigations particularly into this direction, finding however no new explanation of the parapraxis. Jacques Lacan suggested that the parapraxis may be an act of self-forgetting…

Freud in his analysis did not use the fact that he remembered very well a picture of the painter in the lower left corner of one of the frescos. The picture, sort of a signature, was thus a third substitute to the forgotten name Signorelli.

The “signature” can be interpreted as a reference to the Latin verb signare and this word, instead of Freud’s signore, then leads to a simple analysis of the Signorelli parapraxis (Engels, 2006, p. 66-69).

SIGNORELLI, Luca; Sermon and Deeds of the Antichrist, Fresco Chapel of San Brizio, Duomo, Orvieto 1499-1502
Here, in a series of frescoes created for a side chapel of Orvieto’s cathedral, blood rains down from the heavens, meteors pelt the earth, hairy blue-green demons torment the damned with astounding inventiveness, angelic trumpets blast the dead clean out of their graves. And in the midst of all the chaos we see the Antichrist, pausing in the middle of a sermon to hear what his demonic advisor instructs him to say next.…

Just behind the Antichrist, a knot of friars argues over an open Bible. They wear the habits of all the major orders: gray-clad Franciscans, black-clad Benedictines and Augustinians, and, in the center of it all, a Dominican in white robe and black mantle who seems to be guiding the discussion. For most of the previous century, preaching friars, Dominicans above all, had thundered relentlessly against Jewish moneylenders, urging Christians to found civic banks that lent money at less onerous rates. The situation for Italy’s Jews was growing steadily more difficult, and Luca Signorelli’s fresco, for all its striking imagery, marks a new spirit of hostility toward the Jews of Orvieto.

(reminiscent of Oath Keepers at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge…)
By 1500, there were too many of these young warriors in central Italy, career soldiers who fought each other in the absence of some more distant enemy like the French or the Turks. Warfare could bring in huge profits, but only if the looting took place far away; local battles only hurt the economy of both victors and vanquished. And the economy is clearly on Signorelli’s mind, because the Antichrist, as we can see, has been engaged in a fund-raising campaign. (A war chest? The pedestal on which he stands shows a warrior on horseback). Piles of gold lie at the Antichrist’s feet as testimony to his success, but now he pauses to hear the demon’s instructions about how to wheedle still more contributions from the audience.…

At first glance, the commanding preacher looks remarkably like Jesus delivering the Sermon on the Mount, but swiftly the details give him away as a completely different presence: his audience is rich, and so are the proceeds from his performance—this is no place for “blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” The Antichrist’s demonic prompter hovers so close that we can no longer tell whose left arm is wrapped in the overfold of the preacher’s pink toga, his own or the fiend’s. The irises of the Antichrist’s eyes are so uncannily pale as to be almost invisible.

Antichrist is a Christian term based on interpretation of passages in the New Testament, in which the term “antichrist” occurs five times in 1 John and 2 John (Greek: ἀντίχριστος, antichristos), once in plural form and four times in the singular.

In some Christian eschatologies Jesus, the Christ or Christian Messiah, will appear in his Second Coming to Earth to face the Antichrist, who will be the greatest false messiah in Christianity. Just as Christ is the savior and the ideal model for humanity, his opponent will be a single figure of concentrated evil, according to Bernard McGinn.

In Islamic eschatology, Masih ad-Dajjal is an anti-messiah figure (similar to the Christian concept of Antichrist), who will appear to deceive humanity before the second coming of “Isa”, as Jesus is known by Arabic-speaking Muslims.

In some schools of non-legalistic medieval Jewish eschatology, a comparable (parodic) anti-Messiah figure, son of a virgin, is called Armilus, “a king who will arise at the end of time against the Messiah, and will be conquered by him after having brought much distress upon Israel.” The concept of an antichrist is absent in traditional Judaism; however, in the medieval diaspora, his inevitable destruction is narrated as the symbol of ultimate victory of good over evil in the Messianic age.

Better Ted than Dead; will that trump Armageddon

“People who have realized that this is a dream imagine that it is easy to wake up, and are angry with those who continue sleeping, not considering that the whole world that environs them does not permit them to wake. Life proceeds as a series of optical illusions, artificial needs and imaginary sensations.” —Alexander Herzen (1812–1870)
