The Scooter Flynn meme will get a workout because… #TrumpRussia, as Sally Yates finally makes her Congressional testimony on Monday.

Will Mike Flynn go to the gray-bar hotel because he was willing to take one for Team Mar-a-Dacha.

Remember that Yates was “fired” because of her refusal to enforce an unconstitutional Muslim Ban.

We might yet see some of the specifics already disclosed in closed sessions about how the cover-up has implicated both the WH Counsel and VP Pence as well as perhaps Giant Taco Bowl himself.

On Monday, she’s expected to testify that she warned White House officials about then-national security adviser Michael Flynn’s contact with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, which would contradict the Administration’s characterization of what she told them.

According to the Associated Press, Yates will say that she told the White House counsel’s office that she believed Flynn’s misleading statements on his contact with Kislyak would leave him compromised, CNN reports. (Flynn was removed from his post in February over questions about his contact with Kislyak.)

The White House, however, has said Yates merely gave them a “heads-up” about Flynn’s Russia contacts. Yates’ testimony will be her first public account of that conversation with the White House.

President Trump took to Twitter on Sunday to criticize the scope and nature of investigations into Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential election — on the eve of a much-anticipated Senate hearing that is to feature the testimony of an Obama-era U.S. deputy attorney general whom the president fired.

Trump’s early-morning tweet did not mention former Deputy Attorney General Sally Q. Yates by name or refer to her scheduled testimony on Monday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

But as he has done repeatedly amid ongoing congressional and FBI probes of potential collusion between his campaign and Russia, Trump insisted that investigative attention, and media reports, were misdirected.

  1. If the reports coming in from numerous sources are correct, there are at least three Grand Juries looking at the #TrumpRussia case. There is known to be a Federal Grand Jury convened in the Eastern District of Virginia, and one in New York. It is a given that NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has a RICO investigation going, and that presumably involves a New York Grand Jury hearing evidence.

I have not seen any credible reports of the Virginia Attorney General convening a Grand Jury, but would not be surprised.

So far, the body count stands at twelve. Or rather, twelve is the number we actually know about. Those folks play hardball, as I pointed out recently in a blog post.

We pinned a lot of hopes on US Attorney General Patrick Fitzgerald, but that Grand Jury never returned an indictment against anyone who mattered. However, Karl Rove is not dead yet, so we may see a perp walk eventually.
