Word Cloud: EERIE

by NONA BLYTH CLOUD

What a lot of words we have in English for the things that give us that unsettling tingly feeling!

eer-ie – adjective
uncanny, sinister, ghostly, unnatural, unearthly, odd,
supernatural, otherworldly, strange, abnormal, weird, freakish, creepy, scary, spooky, freaky, frightening,
bone-chilling, spine-chilling, hair-raising, blood-curdling . . .
Middle English, originally of northern English-Scots origin, related to German arg

In the Northern Hemisphere, October is the month we need all these words. As the temperature cools, the nights grow longer, and misty halos wreathe streetlamps and porch lights, we find ourselves looking over our shoulders more often, and listening for sounds that seem just at the edge of our hearing. And all of that culminates in Halloween, all Hallows Eve, the ancient Celtic Samhain.

So I’ve assembled some poems to suit this Autumnal mood. Don’t be surprised if you start feeling like something is watching you – and waiting . . .

Djinn

Haunted, they say, believing
the soft, shifty
dunes are made up
of false promises.

Many believe
whatever happens
is the other half
of a conversation.

Many whisper
white lies
to the dead.

“The boys are doing really well.”

Some think
nothing is so
until it has been witnessed.

They believe
the bits are iffy;

the forces that bind them,
absolute.

SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN 29 YEARS OLD TODAY . . . THE CELTIC LASSIE: 1988 – 2015

by Chuck Stanley

Troll Bridge

Brandi on the troll bridge, having a word with the troll. You don’t want to know. Neither did the troll.

Not scared of trolls at all. Trolls know better than to hassle Celtic women.
A Celtic Woman will open the gates of hell, escort your ass right on in, and do it with a smile on her face.

#TrumpRussia gets closer as GOP keeps looking for snipes

By ann summers

Photos from the Las Vegas Trump Hotel where Emin Agalarov (center of both images) met with Donald Trump. Agalarov’s manager Rob Goldstone is highlighted with a red arrow, to his left is Trump’s personal lawyer Michael D. Cohen. (2013) The fifth person identified as Natalia Veselnitskaya has yet to be verified

Breaking: it’s the media’s fault that Trump is uncivil while we’re forgetting that last Friday, Michael Cohen’s meeting today with the Senate Intel committee was “postponed” again probably because they knew Cohen would not cooperate. More importantly, it may signal how solid the Mueller evidence related to Cohen might be.

Yet the GOP is still talking about HRC emails… again, even as pursuing it might actually dig a deeper hole for everyone involved in Biglygate.

Here are five deeply disturbing events that congressional investigators will surely press Michael Cohen on in their meetings:

1. October 28, 2015: Michael Cohen had Donald Trump, already a presidential candidate, sign a Letter of Intent to build Trump Tower Moscow with Moscow-based developer I.C. Expert Investment Co.

2. November 3, 2015: Michael Cohen received an email from Trump aide and Russian mobster Felix Sater saying of Donald Trump “Our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it,. I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.”

3. January 2016: Michael Cohen emailed Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov asking for help to advance the Trump Tower Moscow Project.

4. June 2016: Michael Cohen, while serving as a top Trump campaign surrogate, was invited by Felix Sater i to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and was promised introductions to top Russian government officials.

5. January 27, 2017: Michael Cohen, Felix Sater, and Ukrainian politician Andrii Artemenko wrote a plan to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict and lift US sanctions on Russia which Cohen reportedly delivered to then-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Donald Trump’s first official call to Vladimir Putin as President took place the next day.

 For Hillary’s emails:
1. Trump begged Wikileaks
2. Trump Jr met Russians
3. Cambridge Analytica asked Wikileaks
