By Elaine Magliaro

Hermant Mehta (Patheos) reported on Thursday that there’s a sign outside the Taylor Road Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia that “is rightfully pissing people off.”

Dallas Franklin of KFOR noted that the church sign has caused lots of folks to take a second look at the sign. He added that the sign–which appears to link Satan with equal rights–“has some people fuming.”

Two Alabama Police Officers Accused of Being Members of a White Supremacist Hate Group Put on Administrative Leave

AnnistonAlabamaPDBy Elaine Magliaro

The city of Anniston, Alabama, has placed two of its police officers on administrative leave while it investigates accusations that the men are members of a hate group. On Wednesday, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) posted an article on its Hatewatch blog alleging that Lt. Josh Doggrell and Lt. Wayne Brown had ties to the League of the South.  SPLC describes the League of the South (LOS) as a “neo-confederate” hate group that advocates for a Southern secession and a society dominated by “European Americans.”

Picture of the Day for June 19, 2015: Regarding Governor Nikki Haley, South Carolina, and the Confederate Flag (VIDEO)

By Elaine Magliaro

Last October during a political debate, Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina defended the Confederate flag’s presence on statehouse grounds because “not a single CEO” had ever complained about it. Vincent Sheheen, her Democartic opponent, called for removal of the flag. While Haley acknowledged that the flag was a “sensitive issue,” she rejected the idea that it should be removed.

NikkiHaleyConfederateFlagDuring the debate, Haley said, “What I can tell you is over the last three and a half years, I spent a lot of my days on the phones with CEOs and recruiting jobs to this state. I can honestly say I have not had one conversation with a single CEO about the Confederate flag.”

From the Climate Change Denier Diaries: Dumbass Fox News Host Claims Pope Francis Is the Most Dangerous Person on the Planet

Greg Gutfeld

By Elaine Magliaro

First, we had the dumbass senator from Oklahoma James Inhofe suggesting that Pope Francis should butt out of the debate on climate change. Now we have a dumbass Fox News personality claiming that the Catholic pontiff is “the most dangerous person on the planet.”

Raw Story:

On Tuesday night’s episode of The Five, the panel discussed the pontiff’s leaked encyclical that warns of “unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem” unless drastic changes to lifestyle and energy consumption are made globally.

During the discussion, co-host Greg Gutfeld accused the pope of having a “Marxist” background and Malthusian belief system. Gutfield said, “The most dangerous person on the planet is someone who is seeking strange new respect from their adversaries. And that is what the Pope is doing…He doesn’t want to be your grandfather’s pope, he wants to be a modern pope. All he needs is dreadlocks and a dog with a bandana and he could be on Occupy Wall Street.”

Over at Huffington Post, there is an article by Ed Mazza, Jade Walker & Kelly Chen titled Charleston Church Shooting: White Gunman Kills 9 At Historic Black Church. The article is being continually updated.

People have been leaving links to news reports written about this tale of American terrorism at some other FFS articles. I thought it would be a good idea to have an open thread on the subject so we could keep links to all the news reports at one post.

Tales of Horror from the Christian Homeschool Movement: Child Brides, Child Abuse, Children Kept in Cages

By Elaine Magliaro

Thamiel Rosenkreuz has an interesting article over at If You Only News titled If She Bleeds, She Breeds: Christian Home Schoolers Debate Merits of Child Marriage. In her article, Rosenkreuz claimed that “parents are not always capable of choosing what’s in the best interest of their child. She added that “nowhere is that more obvious than the Christian homeschooling movement, where a debate is current broiling over the idea of a minimum age for marriage.”

Rosenkreuz said the evidence that there was a debate on the subject of the minimum age for marrying among homeschoolers “first surfaced with a Facebook post made by homeschooling advocate, right-wing whackjob, Christian theocrat, and leader of the Home School Defense League, Michael Farris.” She noted that after doing some research, she found that the problem ran deeper—and “straight to the rotten core of that entire subculture.”

Michael Stone of Patheos also has an article on the same subject titled Christian Homeschoolers Promote Child Marriage. Stone said that in the world of Christian homeschoolers, “children are treated as property, often with tragic consequence.” He noted that Farris’s recent Facebook post illuminated “some of the dangers the daughters of Christian homeschoolers face, dangers like arranged marriages, often at a very young age.”
